Earthsea in Clorox

If any of you watched the Sci-Fi Network's Earthsea mini-series and haven't read the books on which it was based, please, PLEASE don't assume the text sucked that badly.

It didn't.  It still doesn't.

Here's Ursula K. Le Guin's short response, and here's a version that's a bit more in depth.  She seems particularly offended by the whitewashing of the cast, and, you know, it's funny -- the first thing I thought upon seeing an ad poster for the series was, "Hey, they cast Danny Glover as Ged?" which, of course, they didn't.  Black actor == bit part.

Bah.  You know, every time I start thinking that maybe we, as a society, have made a little progress I'm reminded how far there is yet to go.

Hmmm. Be very, very afraid. (And I thought I was frightened before.) Was Over Sea, Under Stone deemed too dull for a crowd of 2007 children?

Clicky to comic source. (I'd also find someone who could do a better job with the text.)
